A list of films based on novels, novellas, short stories and other stories written by Philip K. Dick. The list may also include films that aren't based on his stories, but share the same continuity as films that are (e.g. sequels, prequels, and spin-offs of films based on his stories). Most of Philip K. Dick’s stories were of the science fiction genre.

1 Blade Runner Blade Runner Blade Runner was released in 1982, and is loosely based on the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. It is a blend of science fiction and film noir. It is set in a dystopian future Los Angeles, and is about a special police operative (known as a blade runner) who decides to take on the job of hunting down a group of rogue replicants who have returned to Earth. Replicants are a synthetic race, engineered by powerful corporations. They look like humans but have greater strength and speed, and have truncated lifespans. They are used on other worlds to perform dangerous and menial tasks, but their use on Earth is forbidden.
2 Total Recall (1990) Total Recall (1990)
Total Recall was released in 1990, and is loosely based on the 1966 Philip K. Dick short story titled We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. It is set the future, and is about a man who has recurring dreams about a journey to Mars. In an attempt to find out more about the dream, he buys a holiday at Rekall Inc (where they sell the holidays as implanted memories). The memory implantation goes wrong, and he remembers being a secret agent fighting against the governor of Mars.
3 Barjo Barjo
Barjo (also known as Confessions d'un Barjo) is a French film from 1992, which is based on the novel Confessions of a Crap Artist. The novel was written in 1959 and was published in 1975, and was Philip K. Dick's only non-science fiction novel to be published during his lifetime. The story is about an eccentric and obsessive simpleton who moves in with his twin sister and her husband, after he accidentally burns down his house in a failed attempt at a science experiment.
4 Screamers Screamers
Screamers is a 1995 film based on the short story Second Variety. It is set in the year 2078 on a former mining planet, which has since become a wasteland due to a civil war between the New Economic Bloc (comprised largely from the colony's former mining and science personnel) and the Alliance (the owners/managers of the mines). In order to broker a peace agreement, a group of Alliance soldiers must traverse through a wasteland, where the deadliest threat are screamers (self replicating, blade wielding killing devices that have evolved beyond the point where they can be controlled).
5 Impostor Impostor
Impostor is a 2001 science fiction film based upon the 1953 short story of the same name. It is set on Earth in the year 2079, with Earth having been under attack by aliens for decades. The aliens attack by having bombs implanted in replicants (perfect clones of existing humans, including implanted memories). The story is about a man who is accused of being a replicant. He escapes captivity and tries to prove he isn't a replicant.
6 Minority Report Minority Report
Minority Report is a film from 2002, that is loosely based on the Philip K. Dick short story of the same name. It is set in the US in the year 2054, where would-be murderers can be apprehended before they commit a murder by a special police department known as PreCrime (that rely on information provided by three psychics known as precogs). The story focuses on a PreCrime cop, who becomes a fugitive after he is predicted to commit a murder.
7 Natural City Natural City
Natural City is a 2003 Korean science fiction movie that is similar to Blade Runner. IMDb states that it was based on the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, but that Philip K. Dick was uncredited.
8 Paycheck Paycheck
Paycheck is a 2003 movie based on the Philip K. Dick short story of the same name. It is set in the near future and is about a man whose job is to reverse engineer his clients' competitors' technology (and add improvements). To protect his clients and himself, he has his memory wiped to remove knowledge of his reverse engineering work.
9 A Scanner Darkly A Scanner Darkly
A Scanner Darkly is a movie from 2006, and is based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name. It is set in a dystopian near-future, with a society under intrusive high-tech surveillance during a time of widespread drug addiction.
10 Next Next
Next is a film from 2007, based very loosely on the Philip K. Dick short story called The Golden Man. It is about a man who can see two minutes into his future.
11 Screamers: The Hunting Screamers: The Hunting is a 2009 movie that was released straight to DVD. It is the sequel to Screamers (1995).
12 Radio Free Albemuth Radio Free Albemuth
Radio Free Albemuth is based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name. The novel was written in 1976, and published in 1985 (after Philip K. Dick's death). It is about a record store clerk who experiences strange visions from some entity he calls VALIS, that leads him to uproot his family and move to Los Angeles. The story is set in about 1985 in an alternate reality USA, which is ruled by an authoritarian regime controlled by a Nixon-like clone.
13 The Adjustment Bureau The Adjustment Bureau
The Adjustment Bureau is a movie released in 2011 that was based loosely on the Philip K. Dick story, titled Adjustment Team. It is a mix of romance and science fiction, and is about a politician and a ballerina, and the efforts of a shadowy organisation trying to keep the two apart.
14 Total Recall (2012) Total Recall (2012) A remake of the 1990 film of the same name.
15 Blade Runner 2049 (2017) Blade Runner 2049 (2017) Blade Runner 2049 is the sequel to Blade Runner. It is set 30 years after the events of the first film, and follows a new LAPD blade runner. Although not based on a Philip K Dick novel, it is a continuation of the movie loosely based on his novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?'.
