A list of games like the first Prince of Persia game. Prince of Persia is a 2D platformer that was renowned for having realistic character animation (far more realistic than most 2D platformers of the time). Prince of Persia’s realistic character animation was achieved by rotoscoping (where the animator traces over frames of live-action footage).
In Prince of Persia, rather than performing an action as soon as a button is pressed, the action is performed upon the completion of an animation. When the character jumps, he jumps in a way that is similar to how a real human would jump. For many platformers the playable character would instantly move vertically, appearing effortless, at a constant speed, to a height greater than themselves, can steer their jump while rising or falling, and fall at a constant speed. In Prince of Persia, a vertical jump would involved the character crouching slightly, then jumping up to a realistic height, and then falling in the same way an object falls due to gravity.
Falling from a height would hurt or kill the character. To avoid being harmed by falling, the character could gradually lower himself down from a ledge. To reach a higher platform, he would usually jump up, grab on to the ledge and then pull himself up (rather than reaching the higher platform in a single bound).
The games in this list should all be 2D platformers, with character animation, movement and controls similar to Prince of Persia.
Prince of Persia would be one of the most well known games of the cinematic 2D platformer subgenre.

Flashback
Flashback is set in the future (on various planets), and is about an investigator who uncovers a conspiracy by shape-shifting aliens to infiltrate and eventually destroy Earth. The playable character moves in a very similar way to the playable character in Prince of Persia. Flashback's game-play is more advanced than in Prince of Persia, with many items to pick up, more objects and characters to interact with, greater variation in enemies (and how they behave), and a deeper story. Flashback broke the record of being the French made video game with the most sales worldwide. Flashback has a sequel (called Fade to Black), but it isn't included in this list due to being 3D (rather than a 2D platformer).
4

Each row in the following text fields represents one entry in the list.
Each list entry must have a title and/or URL. Entry descriptions and images are entirely optional.
The submitted link URLs would be automatically standardised. This will mean that it doesn't matter whether or not you include the https:// (or https//) at the beginning or a / at the end.
Don't worry if a title, URL or description takes more than one line in the input form. Regardless
of whether the input was entered manually or copied and pasted, this website can distinguish between whether the input going to a new line was due to
its long length or from the use of the enter key.
New list entries are added to the bottom of the list. Chronologically ordered lists should be ordered from the earliest to the latest.
If an image is too wide or tall, it would be automatically scaled.
